God’s thoughts are higher than our thoughts, and His ways than our ways [Isaiah 55:9].
God will not share His glory with another, certainly not a created being, and there is no reason He should! [Isaiah 42:8, 48:11]
The lie that we can be as God is as old as Satan! He wanted to share God’s throne and he was kicked out of heaven for it. And Satan told Eve, “Ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil” [Gen 3:5]. This was the lie Eve bought. This was the lie that made her and Adam sin.
Isaiah [chapter 6], Ezekiel [chapter 1], and John [Revelation 1, 4] saw God high and lifted up. And what was their reaction? They fell at His feet! When we see God as He really is, we fall at His feet. We humble ourselves. We repent in dust and ashes. We worship. We also see ourselves as we really are. And we cry, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!” [Rev 4:8]
Ecclesiastes 5:2: God is in heaven. You are on earth. Let your words be few!
We will receive a crown as a reward for our work here on earth. But let us not in glory in it. The 24 elders “cast their crowns” at Jesus’ feet [Rev 4:10]. And without Christ, we can do nothing [John 15:3]. We are earthen vessels that God chooses to use to spread the gospel and thereby seek worshippers. “The excellency of the power [is] of God, and not of us” [2 Cor 4:7].
“God is a spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth” [John 4:24]. Let us repent of our pride, self-sufficiency, and self-praise. And let us humbly worship Christ.
