“What God has joined together, let not man separate.” – Matthew 19:6
Jesus Christ told the Pharisees that marriage, one man and one woman for life, was God’s plan from the beginning with the creation of Adam and Eve. It should not be separated by adultery, divorce, or fornication. Instead, human marriage is a shadow of what is to come: the divine, eternal marriage of Christ and his bride the church (Ephesians 5:23-32, Revelation 19:7-9).
Of course, the opposite statement is also true: what God has separated, let not man join together. They’re like oil and water. Those who try to combine them will be separated from God in hell.
Jesus Christ v. Homosexuality
God created us male and female. We should sexually join the opposite gender, not our own. No other sexual act besides “one man and one woman for life” is worthy of the word “marriage.”
In desire, thought and deed homosexuality is an abomination to God. A person cannot be homosexual and be a Christian. I explain this truth in the following blog posts. Heterosexual Christians know and believe this truth. It’s why most homosexuals hate God.
- “Gay Christian”: Denying the Power of God
- “Gay Christian” and “Gay Marriage”: Repairing the Breaches
- The Necessity of the New Birth
‘Homosexual Christians’ are a living contradiction, despised by people with sense. They have been deceived by Satan and have lied to themselves. Until they drink the living water of Christ (John 4:10, 13-14, 7:37-38) and let God remove the oil of sin in their hearts, they will be separated from him in hell forever. Sin cannot enter heaven (Revelation 21:8, 27, 22:15).
Creation v. Evolution
The theory of creation believes in micro-evolution, or change within species. It states that God created the universe in six days, through his spoken word and his “hands.” God specially created Adam and Eve, the first human beings, in his image (Genesis 1:26-27). This scientific and historical account is recorded in Genesis and elsewhere in the Bible.
The theory of evolution believes in macro-evolution, or change from one species to another. It states that the universe is billions of years old, that mankind came from apes, and that God does not exist. It calls the book of Genesis and the Bible a lie. However, unlike creation evolution has no scientific or historical evidence.
These two theories of the origin of the universe and of life are diametrically opposed. They are truly “oil and water.” Yet some people have tried to combine them in a theory called “theistic evolution,” believing God providentially oversaw the evolutionary process.
Evolution is an abomination to God. It’s a gross and demonic lie, not the fact godless scientists pretend it is. Those who subscribe to theistic evolution display their unbelief in God’s character and Word and give credence to bad science. Until they are washed with the water of the Word (Ephesians 5:26) and let God remove the oil of unbelief in their hearts, theistic evolutionists will be separated from him forever in hell. Unbelief cannot see the face of God.
Jesus Christ v. Pagan Religions and Cultures
There is but one path to God the Father in salvation and in prayer: Jesus. There is but one path to heaven, God’s eternal dwelling: Jesus. There are no other gods, no other paths. Christianity is exclusive and it should take pride in this fact. Religious tolerance is not a virtue but a vice. Devout Jews and Muslims understand this truth. Why not Christians?
Our secular, pagan culture today says that tolerance is a virtue, exclusivity a vice. Tolerance can tolerate all religions but one: Christianity. This is an old lie of Satan dressed up in new clothes. The devil will do anything he can to keep people from giving sole worship to Jesus the Son of God. He loves idols and tolerance. Unfortunately, some Christians have listened to Satan. Syncretism in their worship and studies has led to tolerance of other religions and other gods. Read my blog post “Christianity, Islam, and Tolerance.”
Our secular, pagan culture today also sees Greece, Rome, the Renaissance, and the Enlightenment as periods of “light.” By contrast, it sees ancient Israel and the Middle Ages as periods of “darkness.” The spiritual darkness of paganism calls the spiritual light of Christianity “darkness” (Isaiah 5:20). Again, some Christians have listened to Satan. They don’t see any spiritual harm in pagan, anti-Christian cultures.
Jerusalem is the city of God. Athens, Rome, and Babylon are the cities of man, and therefore of Satan. Can the cultures and religions of these cities be combined like oil and water? No. Yet some have tried. Read my blog post “Jerusalem and Athens.”
God cares about sinners in every city. Our Christian duty is to tell these sinners the truth of Jesus Christ and his coming millennial reign, not heed and propagate their pagan cultures. We must have both feet planted in heaven, not one in heaven and the other on earth. We must be transformed by the renewing of our minds, not conformed to this world (Romans 12:2).
Idolatry is an abomination to God. He says we must not worship any other gods before him (Exodus 20:3-5). During the Great Tribulation, the harlot Babylon will commit fornication, worshipping all gods and giving credence to none; she will kill the saints (Revelation 17-18).
Culturally syncretistic and religiously tolerant Christians are really idolaters. Until they drink the water of separation (Numbers 19:9-21) and let God remove the oil of idolatry in their hearts, they will be separated from him in hell forever. Idolaters cannot enter heaven (Revelation 21:8, 27, 22:15).
God is light. He hates darkness.
God is truth. He hates lies.
God is holy. He hates sin.
God is one. He hates idols.
As Christians, we are called to be children of light in a spiritually dark world (Ephesians 5:8, 1 Thessalonians 5:5). Like God, we must love light, truth, holiness, and oneness – not darkness, lies, sin, and idolatry. Those who try to combine Jesus and homosexuality, creation and evolution, and Jesus and idols – like oil and water – will be judged as the sinners, unbelievers, liars, and idolaters that they really are. God separated light from darkness on the first day of creation (Genesis 1:3-5). He did it again on resurrection morning. Christ will do this a third time at his Second Coming. God is a righteous Judge (Genesis 18:25, 2 Timothy 4:8).
God is holy. So is his dwelling place, heaven. If we want to call it “home” for eternity, we must wash ourselves in the blood of Jesus Christ and the living water of his Word. We must also allow God to remove the oil of this world – sin, unbelief, and idolatry – from our hearts. Only then will we enter heaven. Only then will we see the face of Jesus and be like him (1 John 3:2).
